River North Residents Not Turned On By Proposed Bondage Club

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cracking the whip on a kink club trying to move in next door. Some residents are 'just not into that kind of thing."

Bondage, discipline, submission, all part of a proposed private adult club in River North.

CBS 2's Audrina Bigos reports there are lots of angry families that are already starting petitions to fight the proposal. A public notice went up and now some residents have already filed formal complaints with the alderman.

Other than some noise, Tom Robinson calls Galleria Domain, self-titled kink club, a great neighbor.

"You hardly notice them," Tom said. "They're very discreet about getting in and out of the club."

The owners didn't answer when CBS 2 buzzed to ask about a public notice posted on West Superior in River North.

Nestled between condos, a car wash and dry cleaners, the private club has applied to open another location for bondage, discipline, domination and submission.

"Not to pass judgment on any element of person, this is not the type of business that belongs in a residential community," said Steven Levy.

Some are grossed out

"There's kids living across the street and all up the block," said one resident. "Why do we need that in this neighborhood?"

Others fed up with the mere thought of this new kinky neighbor.

Now that the business has filed an application, they'll need a letter of support from Alderman Brendan Reilly who didn't return our calls. There will be a zoning hearing in March.
