Cold And Damp Forecast For Black Friday Shopping

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Black Friday will be a dreary day for bargain hunters to be out shopping in the Chicago area, with chilly temperatures and light rain possible much of the day.

The morning started out downright nasty, with heavy rain and gusty winds in much of the area, and temperatures down significantly from the mild conditions seen on Thanksgiving, when temperatures hit 60 degrees in Chicago.

By 4 a.m. Friday, those temperatures were down to the low 40s and upper 30s, and they were expected to linger in that range all day.

While rain had let up Friday morning, scattered showers

The good news is, snow and sleet shouldn't be much of a factor on Friday, as dry air should move in before it gets cold enough for frozen precipitation.

There could be some scattered snow and sleet overnight, though, and then skies should clear for the weekend.

Daytime temperatures should stay in the low to mid 40s through the middle of next week, with overnight lows in the high 20s to mid 30s.
