CHICAGO (STMW) — Three people were arrested after a fight left an Elgin police officer injured Monday morning in the northwestern suburb.
About 7:50 a.m., officers responding to the 1500 block of Larkin Avenue attempted to separate several individuals who were fighting, according to a statement from the Elgin Police Department.READ MORE: Mother Has Questions After Police Shoot, Kill Man They Say Was Wielding Knife In Englewood
During the incident, an officer was injured and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Dennis Napier, 23, of the 600 block of Scott Drive in Elgin, was charged with mob action, a Class 4 felony, police said. A 15-year-old boy was charged with aggravated resisting arrest and a 16-year-old boy was also charged with mob action.READ MORE: Chicago Weather: Rain Coming As Work Week Begins
Police said Napier suffered a laceration to his head during the fight and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
