(CBS) The Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Erik Gustafsson from AHL Rockford while placing forward Marcus Kruger on injured reserve, they announced Monday.

The 23-year-old Gustafsson had three assists in six games in an earlier stint with the Blackhawks this season. He made his NHL debut on Oct. 30.

Kruger is expected to be out until at least mid-April after having surgery on a wrist injury.

Gustafsson had 11 points in 27 games at Rockford this season.
