22 Chicago Police Officers Disciplined For Dash-Cam Violations
(CBS) -- Nearly two dozen Chicago Police officers disciplined for failing to use police dash cameras properly. It's a promise, made good, by interim Superintendent John Escalante.
22 officers have been disciplined in a one-month period since the dash-cam fallout in the shooting death of Laquan McDonald.
Officers were cited for audio issues, not uploading video at the end of a shift, and not inspecting cameras to insure they worked correctly.
Punishment ranged from a reprimand to a three-day suspension or loss of leave.
A spokesman says since Escalante's orders, there has been a 75-percent increase in proper uploads of video.
