Police: Pair Tried To Lure Girls To SUV Outside Belmont Cragin High School
(STMW) -- Police are searching for two people who tried to lure two girls to an SUV parked outside a Belmont Cragin neighborhood high school last week on the Northwest Side.
About 5 p.m. Feb. 8, the girls were walking eastbound in the 6300 block of West Barry Avenue when they saw a clean, white four-door SUV parked in front of Steinmetz College Prep, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
As the girls walked past the vehicle, the passenger said, "Do you need a ride?" The girls continued to walk northbound on Mobile Avenue towards Belmont, police said.
The driver then asked, "Do you want to make some money?"
The girls ran away and immediately reported the incident to their parents, police said. The vehicle sped away eastbound on Barry.
The driver is described a white man, between 30 and 35 years old, wearing a blue baseball cap, police said. A description of the passenger was not available, and the make and model of the SUV are unknown.
