Man Charged In South Shore Crash That Injured 10

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged in connection with a crash that left 10 people wounded in the South Shore neighborhood Thursday night.

Jamayel Tillman, 31, faces three felony counts of fleeing police, one misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license and one misdemeanor count of driving without insurance, according to Chicago Police. Tillman, of the 7900 block of South Peoria, was also cited for disobeying a stop light and for failure to stay in his lane.

Police started to pursue Tillman around 10:15 p.m. after he committed a traffic violation in the 9100 block of South King Drive, police said. Tillman led police to the intersection of 75th and Jeffrey, where he blew a red light and hit another vehicle.

Ten people were injured in all, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Six people were listed in fair-to-serious condition, four people were listed in good condition and four other people refused medical attention, fire officials said. Their ages and genders were not immediately available.

Those injured were taken to South Shore Hospital, Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center and the University of Chicago Medical Center, fire officials said.

Tillman's court information was not immediately known.
