Reports: Revenge Porn Charges Against Blackhawks Prospect Garret Ross Dismissed

(CBS) The revenge porn charges against Blackhawks prospect Garret Ross have been dropped, according to the Tribune and multiple reports Tuesday.

Ross, who plays for the Rockford Icehogs of the AHL, was suspended by the Blackhawks last week after they learned of accusations that he had shared an image of a woman who was partaking in a sexual act without her consent. The charges were dropped after prosecutors discovered Ross was in Michigan when he sent the image, the Chicago Tribune reported. Ross, 23, is a Dearborn Heights, Michigan native, and Illinois law enforcement officials have no jurisdiction in Michigan.

Late Tuesday evening, the Blackhawks announced Ross had been reinstated and that they won't have any more comment.

Ross was charged Feb. 2. The woman lived in Sycamore and had filed the complaint with her local police department. She had told authorities in September that she exchanged nude video and pictures with one of Ross' teammates before ending the relationship after learning he had a girlfriend. That girlfriend broke up with Ross' teammate upon learning that he was using Tinder to meet women, the Tribune reported, and Ross' girlfriend did the same upon learning Ross was using Tinder. Both Ross and his teammate believed the Sycamore woman had been spreading lies, according to reports, and they blamed her.

A winger, Ross has 20 points in 59 games this year for Rockford.
