1-Year-Old Girl Wounded In Neck Out Of The Hospital

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A one-year-old girl shot in the neck by a stray bullet is back home recovering from her injuries.

Khlo'e Chatman is the most innocent of innocent victims. She was sitting in the backseat of a car when bullets shot through the trunk, hitting her just inches from her throat.

CBS 2's Marissa Bailey reports you wouldn't know it by looking at the purse-carrying, barrette-wearing little girl that she is just days out from one of the most traumatic life experiences she may ever endure.

She was in the backseat of a car Friday when bullets pierced the trunk and hit her in the neck.

A quick-thinking family member in the front seat rushed the little girl to the hospital.

She was discharged Sunday and today a bandage covers the spot where the bullet entered.

Khlo'e's mom tells CBS 2 the bullet is still in her neck, but doctors say she will be just fine. They'll have to decide in three months if they want to operate to remove it.

As for the investigation, police say they are still working to identify a shooter and a description of a car involved.

The day of the shooting, witnesses reported seeing shots fired from a silver car.

Chicago Police won't say if anyone connected to the little girl is a documented gang member.
