Missing Lake Geneva Woman, 3 Sons Found Safe

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Lake Geneva woman and her three sons who have been missing for two weeks have been found safe in Georgia.

Now, that woman is facing criminal charges, according to police.

Michalene Melges, 40, was last seen on May 10 with her sons – 14-year-old Hans; 12-year-old Kristian, who also goes by "Max;" and 10-year-old Maverik, who also goes by "Buddy."

Investigators said Melges rented a car in Lake Bluff the day before they disappeared. She then called her sons' school to get them excused from class for a family vacation until May 13.

The car was returned to a rental car company in Plano, Texas, on May 13.

Late Tuesday morning, Lake Geneva police announced Melges and her sons had been found safe in Georgia.

An arrest warrant for Michalene was issued by Walworth County for interfering with child custody and she is being held on that warrant by Savannah authorities.
