Bears' Alshon Jeffery Sidelined With Hamstring Strain

By Chris Emma--

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (CBS) -- In search of a healthy season, Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery has encountered a minor setback.

Jeffery suffered what coach John Fox is calling a minor hamstring strain in Wednesday's practice. He was sidelined Thursday while resting the injury.

Last season, Jeffery missed seven games with four different soft-tissue injuries, including a hamstring strain. He was tendered the franchise tag after failing to earn a new contract in his final season. Negotiations carried into the July 15 deadline without an agreement.

The 26-year-old Jeffery caught 54 passes for 807 yards and four touchdowns last season. He recorded a combined 174 receptions in two full seasons prior to an injury-plagued 2015 campaign.

The Bears were short-handed offensively Thursday, with tight end Zach Miller and receiver Eddie Royal again both out with concussions. They each remain in the league's concussion protocol.

On a positive note, linebacker Danny Trevathan returned to action after leaving early Wednesday with a knee ailment.

Friday brings the final practice at training camp this week before the Bears head back to Chicago for their annual Fan Fest at Soldier Field on Saturday. Their last two practices in Bourbonnais are next Monday and Tuesday.
