1 Killed, 4 Wounded In West Englewood Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man in his 20s was killed, a 13-year-old boy was critically wounded, and three other people were injured in a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood Monday night.

Police said all five victims were standing in the front yard of a home in the 6700 block of South Winchester Avenue around 8:50 p.m., when a group of gunmen walked up and started shooting.

A man in his 20s was shot in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. A 13-year-old boy was shot multiple times, and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition.

Three other men also were wounded. Two were taken to Stroger Hospital, and one was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning. Area South Detectives were investigating.
