(CBS) After shockingly being released by the Bears just before the regular season began, kicker Robbie Gould has landed a new job.

Gould is signing with the New York Giants, according to multiple reports. He was in route to London on Thursday to join the Giants, who play the Rams overseas on Sunday.

Gould’s opportunity came about as kicker Josh Brown didn’t travel with the Giants after new revelations and documents came about in his domestic violence case. It could turn into a long-term opportunity for Gould if Brown is suspended for a longer period of time.

Following a storied 11-year career in Chicago, Gould was released by the Bears on Sept. 4. His field goal percentage of 85.4 ranked ninth in NFL history entering this season.

The Bears and Giants meet in Week 11 in East Rutherford, N.J.
