Bears Waive Center Cornelius Edison

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) The Bears have waived center Cornelius Edison, the team announced Tuesday.

A second-year player, Edison was promoted from the practice squad prior to the Bears' contest in Week 8 against the Vikings. The team had had elevated him to add interior depth with Kyle Long and Josh Sitton both injured. The two Pro Bowl guards returned to practice Monday.

Edison is expected to rejoin the Bears' practice squad should he pass through waivers. The team didn't make a corresponding move, which would indicate they expect to re-sign him.

In waiving Edison, it seems clear that the Bears expect both Long and Sitton to play in Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers.

The Bears are off on Tuesday. They return to work on Wednesday at Halas Hall in preparation for their trip to Tampa Bay.
