(CBS) – A suspect died Tuesday evening after an attempted robbery attempt was foiled on Chicago’s South Side.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at 71st and Laflin. Chicago police say two suspects tried to rob two others, and gunfire was exchanged.

One of the suspects, a 23-year-old man, was fatally wounded, police say. A 22-year-old victim was wounded and taken to the hospital.
