Three People Hurt In Wisconsin Workplace Shooting, Suspect Dead

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people were reportedly shot after a suspect opened fire at an office building in Middleton, Wisconsin.

The alleged shooter died in a local hospital after being shot by police.

Middleton Police Chief Charles Foulke said the building has been cleared and there are no other suspects.

He added that the FBI, the ATF and Madison authorities are working on the investigation.

"The suspect was neutralized, is at the hospital and the public is no longer in danger," added Foulke.

According to the Dane County Communications Center, dispatch received multiple reports of a shooter in the 1800 block of Deming Way after 10:00 Wednesday.

One witness who works at WTS Paradigm, a software company in the building, said he heard multiple shots.

Marlene Mecum, who works in an adjacent building, said she saw a person who was "bloodied" and escorted to an ambulance.

The city is about six miles northwest of Madison.

Nearby schools have been put on lockdown.

This is a developing story.
