Illinois Farmers Rush To Apply For Hemp Growing Licenses

CHICAGO (CBS)--Applications to grow hemp are piling up in Illinois, after Governor J.B. Pritzker said farmers are able to grow hemp for industrial purposes.

The decision marks the first time in 80 years that farmers in the state will be able to cash in on the crop.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture has received more than 350 applications during the past few days.

Farmers approved to grow hemp will be able to purchase a cultivation license good for up to three years.
