Registers At Target Stores Back Online After Temporary Outage Left Customers Unable To Complete Purchases

CHICAGO (CBS)-- The registers at Target stores are back online after a temporary outrage Saturday left customers around the country unable to complete their purchases.

According to a press release on Target's website,

"The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours ... After an initial but thorough review, we can confirm that this was not a data breach or security-related issue, and no guest information was compromised at any time."

Just after 2 p.m., Target tweeted that customers were unable to make purchases in stores because their registers were down.

According to a tweet, Target officials are "troubleshooting" and "apologize for the inconvenience.

"We will provide an update as soon as possible," the tweet stated.

A customer said she was turned away and told by a Target official the store was closed while registers are down.
