CHICAGO (CBS)– The registers at Target stores are back online after a temporary outrage Saturday left customers around the country unable to complete their purchases.

According to a press release on Target’s website,

“The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours … After an initial but thorough review, we can confirm that this was not a data breach or security-related issue, and no guest information was compromised at any time.”

Just after 2 p.m., Target tweeted that customers were unable to make purchases in stores because their registers were down.

According to a tweet, Target officials are “troubleshooting” and “apologize for the inconvenience.

“We will provide an update as soon as possible,” the tweet stated.

A customer said she was turned away and told by a Target official the store was closed while registers are down.
