CHICAGO (CBS)– Police are investigating a fatal shooting under a CTA Red Line station in Evanston.
Evanston Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew confirmed the victim’s body was found early Thursday under the station at Howard and Paulina.READ MORE: Two Teens Charged In Clearing Carjacking
According to police, officers located the victim laying on the ground near the station around 1:15 a.m. Police said the male victim was approximately 20 years old.
Chicago Police located a second victim, a 21-year-old man, in the area who suffered a graze wound to the head. Police said the second victim was an Evanston resident. He was treated at St. Francis Hospital and was released.READ MORE: Chicago Weather: Weekend Warmup Continues
“The initial investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that started on the street near Marshfield Avenue and Howard Street,” Police said in a written statement. “Detectives are working to identify the victim and notify his family.”
