1 Man Dead, 1 Wounded In Bronzeville Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men were shot Saturday afternoon in Bronzeville, and one of them later died.

The men, ages 27 and 31, were in the 3400 block of South Prairie Avenue at 3:06 p.m. when they heard shots and felt pain.

The younger man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Darrell Holiday Jr. -- was shot in the back and torso and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The older man was shot in the neck and was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody late Saturday afternoon. Area One detectives were investigating.
