Nicor Gas Heating Bills Expected To Go Up This Winter

CHICAGO (CBS) -- In the midst of the pandemic, the cost of heating your home is about to go up.

The Citizens Utility Board reported Monday that Nicor Gas – which serves most of Northern Illinois, but not the city of Chicago – will be raising its prices 35 cents per unit for gas.

That is a 125 percent increase over last year at this time.

It could amount to hundreds of dollars for some households this winter.
