Best Chicago Breweries To Take Dad On Father's Day

By Melanie Falina

At one time not all that long ago, Colorado was the place in the U.S. famous for craft beer, but the craft beer craze has caught on and spread throughout the nation. More recently, the Chicago-area has emerged as what can easily be called a new craft beer hub in the country with around 150 local and operating breweries pouring their own suds and making waves. From brew pubs that also serve up amazing food to brewery tap rooms and even local bars and restaurants that make a point to feature locally brewed beer, there is a seemingly endless choice for places to go in the city and surrounding area to sample and enjoy Chicago's craft beers. So if you're looking for a unique place to take your father this Father's Day here are some of the best Chicago breweries to check out with the man who's your family's hero on his special day.

Revolution Brewing
2323 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Chicago, IL. 60647
(773) 227-2739

Less than a decade ago Revolution Brewing made the beer scene in Chicago and quickly took over. Now the largest independently-owned brewery in all of Illinois, you'd be hard-pressed to not find Revolution's beers when out drinking, dining, or simply shopping. It all began at the Revolution Brewpub in Chicago's trendy Logan Square neighborhood which continues to offer not only their fabulous beers but delicious meals, all the tops games, and occasional live music as well. From the crisp and floral hoppy-ness of Revolution Brewing's Anti-Hero India Pale Ale to their lighter, citrusy Bottom Up Wit, or the dark and vigorous Eugene Porter and more, Revolution has got a beer or two that Dad will love regardless of if he's ever tried craft beers before or not.

Half Acre Beer Company

'I could drink this beer all day long...' said the YouTube beer reviewer referring to Half Acre Beer Company's Daisy Cutter Pale Ale and voicing an opinion shared by a great many beer lovers in the Chicagoland area. And there's much more to Half Acre than Daisy Cutter! Since 2008, the Half Acre Beer Company's Lincoln Avenue brewery has been serving up the suds of their unique brews to Chicago and beyond, and is expanding to a second, 60,000 square feet location which will host a restaurant, brewery tours and more. Until then, stop by the original location for a beer or two, fill Dad's belly with delicious food options from Half Acre's kitchen menu, and pick up some swag to take home with you as well.

Smylie Brothers Brewing Co.

The craft beer frenzy has been spreading not just throughout Chicago but into the surrounding areas as well, and one of the towns that it's caught on like wildfire is Evanston, Illinois. And located right in the heart of Evanston is Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. Housed in a hip warehouse space, Smylie Brothers has got everything one could ask for in a brew pub.
